How do I start at Fitness 300?

What does membership cost?

Open Gym is $97 per four weeks and Group Training is $247 per four weeks, which includes open gym. There is no contract, no joining fee and no sales meeting, and you can cancel any time.

Do I need to be fit before I join?

Accepted Answer

No. Every movement scales, and a normal class has someone in their first week training next to someone who has been here for years. The Foundations class exists specifically for people starting out.

Question 4

I have never lifted before. Where do I start?

Foundations, on Tuesday evenings. It teaches the movements from the beginning at a pace that assumes no experience, and it is the class most people join first. Personal training is the other route if you would rather learn one-to-one.

Question 5

What should I bring to my first visit?

Accepted Answer

Trainers, water, and clothes you can move in. Come about ten minutes early so a coach can walk you round the floor and show you where things are before the class starts.

How long is a class?

Around an hour, including the warm-up. Conditioning sessions run shorter, between 30 and 45 minutes.

Can I come in when there is no class on?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that is what open gym is for. The class timetable on this page shows when coached sessions run; open gym runs around them. Call us for the current open-gym hours and we will get you set up with access.

I am coming back from an injury. Can I still train?

Accepted Answer

Usually yes, and it is a common reason people start with personal training rather than a class. Bring whatever your doctor or physical therapist has told you and the plan gets built around it. We do not treat injuries and we will not work against a rehab plan.

Question 9

Do you train people over 60?

Yes, and not as a separate class. The floor runs from teenagers to members in their seventies training the same sessions at their own loads and distances.

Question 10

Can I train for a HYROX or DEKA race here?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We run sled, carry, row and ski work in sequence under fatigue, which is what race day actually asks for. We are an independent gym and are not affiliated with any race series.
